Today's the day! My one and only child (for at least the next 7 weeks) is 2 today!
Happy Birthday
Alesa June Wheeler!
Happy Birthday
Alesa June Wheeler!
Here are a few of the fun things Alesa does & says:
*She loves ring-a-round-the-rosie, but we get tired of falling down (especially me), so she's now decided she can do it all herself...she holds her own hands or the "hands" of a toy and as long you sing the song, she is happy as a clam!
*Alesa will tolerate brushing her teeth (by herself...how dare you try to help!) because she likes to spit in the sink afterward.
*She is running a constant commentary of what is going on around her. Andrew says she has no inner monologue...she thinks it, and it comes out. Example of a typical morning of what Alesa says: "Daddy go? Daddy gone to work. Daddy work with Pah-pa. Go Dama's house? Aunt Cici at work, Mommy doin? Mommy eatin' cereal. Lesa June eat cereal too! No, hot cereal. No, cold cereal. No, hot cereal. Yeah, hot cereal. Mommy eatin' cold cereal. Milk in the fridge. Juice in the fridge. I open it. My cereal. Oh, a pink 'poon! Mommy help. No, Lesa do it. Monkey eatin' too!" This is all her...and it goes on and on and on. Not that I mind, it's quite interesting to hear what's going on inside her little mind.
*She now sleeps in a toddler bed (I know...it's awesome!) and in the morning when she wakes up, if we don't open the door fast enough, she starts to knock. It's not annoying, more of a "hello, where are you?" kind of thing. Her little tiny hand makes such a quiet knock that it's hard to get mad even if you're still exhausted.
*Anytime I yawn, she immediately says "Mommy tired." She'll say that to anyone she sees...the nurses today yawned while waiting for some papers and Lesa announced to the whole Dr.'s office that she was tired.
*Alesa has to wear a patch on her eye for an hour a day. Anytime we say okay, Alesa it's time for... She will start shaking her head and say "NO PATCH!" before we can even finish. We've had to start just putting it on without the preamble.
*Aunt Taci has a mole on her thumb and Alesa saw it the other day. She started kissing it over and over and over, telling Taci that it's an owie.
*When Alesa is extremely happy, she dances. When she's eating or sitting down, this makes for the cutest chair dancing you've ever seen!
*Her famed Monkey is now "1 Monkey" and the back up Monkey (which is starting to look more and more like 1 Monkey) is now "2 Monkey" and she has to sleep with them both. She's knows which one is which, even in the dark of night and will find 1 Monkey with her eyes closed. She can also tell by their rattle which is which...I've tested her! She's amazing!!! 1 Monkey is of course still the preferred best friend and 2 Monkey will only do in a crunch (like when 1 Monkey was lost for 2 weeks...worst 2 weeks ever!)
A few stats:
*23 lbs
*34.5 inches (she's already taller than I was at 3 yrs old!)
Likes:
*Anything "chock-o-lut"
*Books and has recently started reading to her stuffed animals
*Elmo (& now Dora, didn't see that one coming!)
*Harrison's or Grandma's house (anytime we get in the car she is SURE we are going to one of those places...sad to disappoint so often)
*Loves breakfast, could forgo eating the rest of the day.
Dislikes:
*Her pants or sleeves riding up past the appropriate length (really...oh jeesh)
*Getting her diaper (aka "bubbles") changed
*Wearing her barrettes or pony tales during nap time. This means her lucky parents get to do her hair twice every day!
This will do for now. We are having a family get-together on Sunday to celebrate, so there will be more pictures and fun things to share. I am going to dedicate this weeks blogs to Alesa (really when aren't they about her) in honor of the last 2 years with her! Soon enough, she'll have to share the spot light....and I'm fairly certain she's not going to like that right away.
