Well all our hopes for a boy born at dawn from the ashes of an old day and into the fire of a new have been dashed to pieces on the obstinate wall that is Erins bodies unwillingness to respond to modern medicine. Don't worry, I'll explain.
Yesterday at 11 am at her Dr appointment she was 1-2 cm. Last night when the doc took the first real look at her at around 11 pm she was still 1-2 cm. That is slow progression...actually progression is too strong of a word. This is more akin to glacial wind sprints, they sound fast till you think about it.
Anyway, the Dr suggested we start Pitocin (a drug used to induce labor which we are very familiar with from last time) and we agreed. There are new protocols in place here at Holy Cross that require them to start the Pitocin off very very slowly, something like 3ml/hr. Whatever the unit is we started out with the little IV machine reading "3" and now it is up to "30" and we have a big fat NOTHING to show for it. It is now 7:30 am and we should be getting our new nurse soon and our old doc is already gone and the new one is coming in to take a look at Erin. Hopefully she finds some progress. Ill let you know.
